Spring Break: I went to Abilene for a few days and it. was. glorious. I hadn't seen my parents in four weeks (I know that doesn't seem like a lot to some people but for us only children, it's forever). Anyways My Dad cooked out steaks on the grill one night and my Meemaw came over and Zach came to Abilene and surprised me (have I mentioned I have an amazing boyfriend who does the sweetest things for me constantly?). Anyways, I also got an early birthday present from my parents who gave me one of those tshirt-blankets with a collage of a lot of my tshirts from undergrad and a few from law school.
Little Blurry but I so so LOVE this! |
Moot Court: We had our last Board of Barristers competition ever. Very weird since Zach and I have competed in every competition since the start of law school. We ended up breaking to Quarter-Finals which we were excited for. One of my best friends made it to the finals and got Best Oralist. She's probably the best Moot Courter I've ever seen. I'm glad we didn't have to face her. She seriously makes Tech Law look good. Anyways we should all find out whether or not we made the board on Monday. The way it works is that you get points for competing in the Board of Barrister's competitions and you also get points if you're on a national team. The more points you get, the more of a chance you have making the Board. There are a lot of great competitors so we have some stiff competition but fingers crossed!!
Working Out: So, I had a realization when I had the EXTREMELY unfortunate opportunity to try on swimsuits that if I don't start working out, I'm not venturing out to the pool without either 1. a full-body wetsuit on, 2. a sweat-pant suit on or 3. a huge t-shirt on over a very unflattering, full-coverage one-piece suit. Or all three. Anyways, first, I want to say that shopping for swimsuits is probably the MOST unpleasant experience on the face of this planet. I actually can't think of anything worse than trying on swimsuits. Trying on shorts is close (um, no thanks I would like a larger in-seam than 2 inches). Anyways. Bathing suit shopping is miserable. I don't care how much you don't eat that whole day...
But I digress
So, after I tried on a bathing suit at The Buckle that could've possible only fit a a pre-pubescent girl child, I decided I may need to hit the gym.
So I hollered at my friend Katie who is a workout boss to keep me accountable. Our first day was today. We met up at 8 a.m. (soooooooearly) and we ran, squated, push-uped, suicided on stairs, squated some more, ran up the stairs some more, did some sits ups, more sit ups, more squats, and more stairs until I though I had died. I really don't remember leaving the gym or coming home to shower. Once I regained consciousness, I realized that despite being sore, I felt really good about myself.
So thanks Katie, for jumpstarting my swim bod and for being my personal cheerleader today. Looking forward to tomorrow and TuRbO KiCk!!!
Upcoming: I know there are people out there who hate their birthdays. I am NOT one of those people. So, the third anniversary of my 21st birthday is coming up the Wednesday and I'm SO excited. I really love birthdays. I love my birthday. I love other people's birthday. I especially love other people's birthdays when they hate their birthday (yes, I am that annoying person. Sorry I'm not sorry). Anyways, so needless to say this week is going to be the bomb.com. My birthday on Wednesday, then my parents are coming up Friday (which coincidentally is my Mom's birthday) and we are going out to celebrate.
So that's about it. I promise to not go almost a month without another post. Hope everyone has a great weekend and a great week!!
I love your t-shirt quilt!! I am waiting on mine to be finished. I started on it several years ago, got all the tshirts cut out and all the strips of fabric needed and even managed to sew 3 complete rows together, but it was too much of a DIY project (especially a sewing/quilting one) for this girl. ;) (And it's a king sized quilt) So, I found a lady on etsy.com that does quilting (specifically tshirt quilts) for a living. I shipped it out to her and hopefully she'll be shipping it back within the next few weeks. I'm so excited!! (It's taken her nearly a year...she's quite the busy quilter).
ReplyDeleteOMG...I'm terrified of swimsuits this year! I hate them all the time, but this year...oy. It may be a full on swim-dress for this post-partum woman ;) I'll only be swimming in the privacy of friends' backyards, I've decided...no boat parties here! HA!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun Spring Break :) The tshirt quilt is awesome!!
