I love March!

I love March. And not just because it's my birthday month, but because it's just a really fabulous month. Here are a few reasons why March rocks my face off.

1. Spring Break
2. Finally starting to feel like Spring (even though it was like 70 degrees today...not ready for summer yet thank you though)
3. My birthday
4. Mom's Birthday
6. One of my bffs Jordan Langston's birthday
7. Semester 1/2 way over
8. St. Patty's Day- Kiss me I'm Irish.
9. The Eiffel Tower was officially opened in Paris in 1889 on the 31st of March.
10. Texas celebrates March 2 as the anniversary of its independence for Mexico.

(OK I did have to look those last two up-- I mean 10 facts sounds better than 8...AND they are fabulous reasons why March rocks).

So, it's a good month already, and here are two more reasons why March has started off with a bang. Please excuse me while I brag for a second.

Ok so Zach and I got some great news today. Let's start with Zach.  So in law school, there are these things called clinics. The best way I can describe them is to say they're similar to the clinicals that med students and nursing students do...you know where you get to actually be a doctor/nurse and take care of patients. Well law school clinics are exactly like that (except no blood...typically). Texas Tech has 6 different clinics, Caprock Regional Public Defender's Office, Civil Practice Clinic, Tax Clinic, Family law and Housing Clinic, Criminal Defense Clinic, and the Capital Punishment Clinic. The neat thing about these clinics are that as a clinic participant, you actually get to have clients, go to court, work on a case from beginning to end, and basically, you get to be a lawyer before you graduate and pass the bar. It's really good practical experience. So I say all of that, to say that Zach applied to the criminal defense clinics (he hopes to eventually one day be a judge), he had his interview on Tuesday, and found out today that he was accepted into the Caprock Regional Public Defender's Office Clinic!! Such amazing news. So all of his 3L year, he will have clients, go to trial for them, and represent them. I interviewed for the Civil Practice Clinic last Friday and still have yet to hear back. *Fingers Crossed* But a big shout out goes to Zach for his great news today. So proud of you :)

So my news. I'm excited to announce that I was hired today! Yes, hired, for an actual paying job. finally. I had been in contact with a lawyer in town the past few weeks about an internship and today, I was fortunate enough to have an interview and was hired on the spot. I can't tell you how good it feels to finally hear "yes" after so so many "no's". I'll be working with two other of my law school friends as a transactional law clerk...meaning that I'll be doing a lot of estate planning, wills and trusts, commercial litigation and contracts issues more than trial issues. I got my first assignment today and have no idea what I'm doing haha and I've never done civil law (last year I did all criminal work) so I'm excited/NERVOUS to have the civil law experience in a law firm. I've always kind of thought I wanted to do civil law and really been interested in estate planning, probate, and wills & trusts law so I'm so happy and excited to have this experience. And while money isn't everything, it's nice to finally be paid for something that I'm wanting to do for the rest of my life. I do have to say thank you to Callie, for all of the insider help :)
What I felt like my face looked like today when my boss was telling me my first assignment
Anyways I'm not complaining by any means. I'm excited to have a real law job and at a great firm. Everyone seems extremely nice and helpful. So thank you all for all of your love and support. It's nice to finally get a yes :)
Never, never, never give up
I hope that everyone had a fabulous February and that you all have a very marvelous March. <3
